Re: Indicators in the reverse lights...
Time taken ... 1hr ISH start to finish. Total cost around £7!
Parts required:
2x Sidelight bulb holders
2x 501 wedge indicator bulbs
Some wire, a small knife, electrical connector (your choice but i soldered mine)
Drill
lol
First, remove the upper rear lights - 3 screws on each one, how hard can it be?
Take a drill to the inside of the lamp units... carefully.. I found that where i put the bulb holders on mine, there was actualy a round marking! spooky!! remember that you can always make the hole bigger but never smaller!
Clear out excess crap from light unit.. and test fit the unit with the new bulb holder in place! (should sit snug as a bug)
Yes it realy IS this easy!!
Next remove the plastic floor panel just inside the boot and the 2 rear cards at either side. Once you've done that, you will see where all the wiring goes down to the rear bumper lights on each side.
Some might disagree with me on how i did this, but...
on the nearside the wire positive indicator wire is GREEN RED GREEN
On the Offside, the wire is GREEN WHITE GREEN (on this side, there's less room as the wire feeds directly off the trailer connector, so be careful)
Simply tap into both of them wires and attatch other end to the new sidelight bulb holders.. The other wire off the sidelight bulb holder, is simply to an earth point Now might be a good idea to TEST it works...
Because its so simple... it will .... Refit the bulbs holders into their respective holes, push back into place and screw back to the car.... Simples!
I forgot to add... if you have decent reverse light bulbs fitted anyway, then in the unlikely event of you indicating while reversing, the indicator bulbs will drown out the light off the indicator making it look perfectly legal. Happy days!
