How much should I remove?
Hello everybody, I've started to fit a 2 insh lift kit (spacer rings) to my L-series 5 door freelander, the back have gone on fine, then the boss wanted to go shopping so going to be finishing the full lift tomorrow (weather permitting). Before been drag around the shops I had a quick look at the front and noticed that I was going to have to enlarge the holes in the inner wings where the steering arms poke though......... Now before I go chopping I would like to hear from anyone who have got around this issue.
Many thanks,
Paul

Well spotted.. once fitted, with the car in the air and wheels on you should be able to see what needs to be removed...
On the L-series... (maybe others too) main word of warning here... Diesel pipes/ clutch master/slave pipe down the nearside... make sure they are clear when u start cutting!!!

The lower part of that inner wing is double skinned. Cut down to that point at the rear of the hole. You can either just fold the flap inwards using a hammer or trim it off properly. Personally i would trim it properly then paint the bare metal.
Pip has said already, be carfull of the diesel pipes on the nearside.

Re: How much should I remove?
I found "hit it with a hammer" very useful! That's what I did! no problems, covered with rubber guard.
Re: How much should I remove?
Ok lift now complete, raised intake fitted today, looking good will and some pics over the weekend (as for how much to remove, I cut down to the box section then seam welded the 3 pieces of metal).

Re: How much should I remove?
Thankyou very much Pip, I was a bit worried about cutting the hole in the wing, but Mantec supply a template and all was good in the end, it does come with a 'u' piece of trim that pushes around the hole making it very tidy job.

Re: How much should I remove?
yeah, the hole is a bit of a worry, think i'd get some help on that one.... The other one is piping it up to the air intake which is right over the other side of the engine?! any pics on that one?

Hi, it's a mantec intake cost me £250 from my mate at challanger 4x4, I had to weld the top bracket to the roofrack (this would nomally clamp under the roofbars).

Re: How much should I remove?
Hey guys, in the end of the day, after the lift kit what size of tyers can be fitted? does it need wheel spacer? I was thinking to use 235 x 75 x 16 but my original tyre is 235 x 60 x 16 and is pretty close to the base of my springs.
I am a bit concern about rubbing in the sides or shocks base.
cheers
