Hand brake

My hand brake warning light is on all the time when the hand brake is off.
Would the first place to start be the switch?
Or does it mean something else?

same light can mean pads or shoes are worn aswell i believe...??

there is a bit of a rumble noise from back and a squeal from front sometimes.

i'd suggest getting them checked out! you may well need some new stoppers!
