Tyre Size Empty Tyre Size

Post by landyhump Sun Mar 13, 2011 1:44 pm

Hello all

I have done a two inch lift on my freelander and have 16" rims , I was wondering what size tyres I can fit without having to buy wheel spacers, can I fit 225/70/R16's without having to also have to buy wheel spacers.

Many Thanks In Advance.

In short no. Wheel spacers would be required for that size, I run 225 75 16 with 30mm spacers on BFG MT's with no problems, also gives a great lift!

Surley 225/70 R16 are slightly smaller than your 225/75 R16 Sidewall Height: 6.64 in 168.65 mm , the tire wall on the 225/70/R16 are Sidewall Height: 6.20 in 157.48 mm .

I have ordered the 225/70/R16 so I willlet you know in a week or so,I have 30mm spacers to fit if need

The problem will be hitting the springs as tyre width is the same, the diameter is different if you have the spacers i'd go for the bigger tyres.

Apart from having the bigger tyres fitted and wheel spacers to my land rover I have now had fitted a snorkel and mantec side sills, got some spotlights still to fit but can not decide whether to fit them.

What with the two inch lift and the mantac sump guard my little projected freelander is nearly at an end and I must say it is definitely looking the part.

imo spots arent needed ... especialy if u have HID headlights... Once i'd fitted HID conversion to the headlamps, spots with 100w bulbs in made very little difference
