fixed at last, :-o) hunting at tick over, never knowing if it was going to stop and missing at low revs at say 30mph, clean out egr valve back of engine

I put a bypass on EGR valve easy job, not had any problems since!

I didn't have any problems with mine but read that removing the EGR completely and blanking the input/output helped with breathing and torque low down.

For the L-Series (not TD4), search eBay for "EGR blanking plate KIT ROVER MG 220 25 420 FREELANDER". Got to be worth 8 quid and 15 minutes of your time!
